Free design tools for perfect PCR and sequencing primers
Eurofins Genomics' primer design tools are using Prime+ of the GCG Wisconsin Package originally written by Irv Edelman.
With Prime+ you can make use of one of the best software analysing a DNA sequence to design PCR primer pairs or primers for sequencing.
For PCR primer pair selection, you can choose a target range of the template sequence to be amplified. For sequencing primers, you can specify positions on the template that must be included in the sequencing.
In selecting appropriate primers, a variety of constraints on the primer and amplified product are already considered and are predefined as default values in our primer design tools:
- Physical properties of the primers
Optimum primer lengths, G/C as 3’-clamp, primer GC-content and primer Tm.
- Optimum parameters for PCR primer pairs
Tm difference between both primers, repeats and optimal primer-primer annealing
- Physical properties of the PCR product
GC-content and Tm range of the amplicon, sequence repeats and optimal primer-template annealing.
For efficient priming, the design tools avoid primers with extensive self-dimer and cross-dimer formations in order to minimise primer dimer formations and secondary structures.
The results are scored according to the best predicted performance criteria. Selected PCR primer pairs and sequencing primers can directly be saved in your shopping cart.
